Dr. Kelly Page Werder who joined our faculty in 2001, is an Associate Professor in the School of Mass Communications. She teaches courses in the Strategic Communication Management graduate program and the public relations undergraduate program. In addition, she is Co-Editor of the International Journal of Strategic Communication, a quarterly peer-reviewed academic journal that seeks to further strategic communication scholarship and practice. Werder completed her Ph.D. in Mass Communication at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla. She earned a M.S. in Corporate and Professional Communication from Radford University in Radford, Va., and a B.A. in Communication Studies from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va. In addition, she has 5 years of professional experience in public relations and advertising, and her students have developed strategic communication campaigns for more than 70 non-profit organizations in the Tampa Bay community. Werder’s research interests include message strategy effects, strategic communication management, crisis management, corporate social responsibility, leadership in public relations, and student learning outcomes assessment. She specializes in survey and experimental research methodologies.
