Bio

Wendy M. Whitt is a journalist and educator who teaches reporting and mass media writing at the University of South Florida in Tampa. She is a veteran newsroom leader who spent most of her career as a senior editor. She has been a reporter, copy editor and editor at newspapers in Florida, California and North Carolina. In Florida, she worked at The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. Her editing experience includes investigative and enterprise reporting; local, state and national politics; and local news. Multimedia storytelling and news packaging are among her areas of expertise. She spent many years as the editor of the Sunday Tampa Tribune. She was a leader in several newspaper redesigns focused on innovative storytelling. She also has worked in public relations for a nonprofit. She was an adjunct professor in the School of Mass Communications for three years before joining the faculty full time.

Education

B.A., Education (English), University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; M.Ed., Literacy Studies, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; M.A., Journalism and Mass Communication, University of North Carolina.
